This past Monday, I carried on an annual tradition with my now 12 year old sister! Every year, she gets to choose between a day at the water park or Cedar Point. The past two years she has chosen Cedar Point. It's such a blast taking the day just she & I! While this year we didn't have a wide choices of dates, we took a risk and went on Monday. The weather was not the best and the park was BUSY! I could not believe how busy it was for it being a Monday and the weather being so crummy. We didn't get to ride nearly enough coasters but we had a blast playing (and riding) in the rain! Spending the day just my sister & I is so special, and is definitely a time I will forever cherish. We laughed, rapped songs, made fun of each other, and had the time of our lives, despite the things we couldn't control.
Side note- If you're wondering about CP's newest coaster, Valravn, DO IT! It's well worth whatever the wait is; just make sure you wait the extra few minutes for the front car. SO, so awesome!
Rumor has it, that this coaster is getting the boot in a month. I've read many articles that state "roller-coaster enthusiasts" expect Cedar Point to re-do & re-vamp this coaster. I'm curious to see if they actually tear it down! It's such an iconic coaster at the park! Alivia and I waited the 60 minute wait to make sure we got one final ride in!
Funny (and beyond embarrassing) story: Alivia & I waited for the front car. We got in, buckled up, and headed out of the coaster station. I was wearing athletic shorts with no pockets and had my phone placed in my hip, which didn't feel nearly secure enough for this bumpy wooden coaster. As we headed up the hill, I took my phone out of my hip and was attempting to nuzzle it in my bra (sorry TMI haha), but I knew it would be safe there! ;) All of a sudden, the train STOPPED mid-hill. Of course we all thought it was a mechanical failure, till we watched a female Cedar Point employee CLIMB all the way up to our front care and CONFISCATE my cell phone. Yes, they stopped the ride and came and took my phone! I was so in shock that I didn't even try to explain or have a conversation about it. I was MORTIFIED! Luckily, people were like "She didn't even do anything!" and at the end of the ride, I was handed my phone back and no further words were exchanged. Needless to say, make sure your phone is securely fastened before take-off! Haha. WOW!
Overall, our little day trip was worth it. Asher had some time with his other grandma, Margaret, and we had a fun girls day! I was beyond exhausted by the time we finally made it home & I was SO thankful that Ash slept till 7am, uninterrupted!! He normally gets up 1-2 times throughout the night but he apparently was too tired too! :)
Can't wait till next year's trip!
