With wedding season in full swing now, I wanted to take a moment and share all about unplugged ceremonies! With technology being a HUGE part of our everyday lives, it's so easy to not even think or realize when they're an issue. But, a wedding ceremony to me is one event where I feel very strongly that should be technology free. The couple has hired a professional photographer, usually TWO photographers, to capture every moment and detail. Unfortunately, we have become such an instant satisfaction generation, that we often want a photo NOW. And without thinking, we have become a distraction and sometimes a nuisance in someone's special day!
While I have plenty of my own photos to share from ruined moments from guests with phones, I have decided to use other images and credit the photographers. I simply don't want to upset any of my past couples or their guests. My hope by sharing this post is that when you are planning your special day, you ask your guests to be present in the moment and stay off their devices. I LOVE sharing photos from your big day and am happy to do so!
One other edit I'd like to add: it's not always someone and their actual device that is the issue. It takes extreme precision to get our camera settings just right to capture your moments, and I have had the first kiss almost ruined in churches because of someone's FLASH from their device! My image has been super blown out (bright) due to someone's flash...but thankfully the image was saved by professional editing software. Just yet another SUPER important detail to keep in mind when you're wedding planning and you have a "friend that has a nice camera". There is SO much more to photography to having a nice camera, and that is just one small detail of many!
